University of Tokaj

The University of Tokaj is very proud to be able to announce the organization the first International Tokaj Wine Congress Sustainable Viticulture and Oenology on 13-16th of Nov 2022 (TWCS2022).

The main goal of the Congress is to pass on knowledge to professionals that is up-to-date, useful, and easy to put into practice from an international and holistic perspective. University of Tokaj would like to strengthen its international position by inviting lectures by top scientists, researchers and practicing professionals, worldwide known viticulturists and winemakers.

There will be plenary lectures on the main fields of Vine and Wine Science in Sárospatak (the site location) and 5 sessions in different locations in the Tokaj Wine Region (the session locations). The aim is to emphasize the system approaches and synergies between the scientific fields of wine science such as oenology, wine business, wine tourism, multifunctional agriculture, and even the relevant areas of heritage science and landscape conservation.

Mád Wine Academy

The Mád Wine Academy is an organizational unit of the University of Debrecen located in Mád, the aim is to coordinate and fund research activities that support the awareness of the wine region to both the Hungarian and the world’s wine-loving public. On one hand, these are medical programs in which they research bioactive compounds in Mád’s high-quality wines that have a positive effect on health. On the other hand, field research which results can be incorporated into today’s trendy wine marketing approach that emphatically communicates “terroir,” the unique place of production. Henye Winery

Dereszla is among the wineries with the greatest history in the Tokaj Wine Region, and the history of Hungary can be followed with the history of the cellar. Rákóczi Harvest House

Rákóczi Harvest House is the headquater of Tokaj Research Nonprofit Ltd., which was renovated in 2021. It is also the place for the practical adaptation of university theoretical education. The Harvest House was bulit is the 17th century and it was burned by the raiding Turks. In the 18th centruy it was rebuilt by the Rákóczi Family.

Gróf Degenfeld Castle Hotel

Gróf Degenfeld Castle Hotel together with Theresa Chapel built in 1750 in Tarcal and renovated by the Count Degenfeld family in 2015. Its nice landscape offers a unique location for events. The Grand Tokaj is owned by the Foundation of University of Tokaj since August 1, 2021. A guardian and protector of the national winemaking traditions in its posiotion as the largest winery in the historical Tokaj Wine Region, bearer of the title of the Unesco World Heritage Site.
